Christina Jardee, Associate Director of Operation Hope Prison Ministry, sees that determination every day.
“One of our biggest barriers is transportation,” Jardee explained. “We want to take as many barriers down as we can for them.”
That mission led Operation Hope to create the Car Club, a program designed to provide much more than access to a vehicle.
At its heart, the Car Club is about restoring independence.
Participants don’t simply receive a vehicle. They earn the opportunity to own one while developing the financial habits that support long term success. By making affordable monthly payments and building a positive payment history, participants strengthen their financial foundation while gaining reliable transportation they can depend on every day.

Todd Gessele, Executive Director of Operation Hope Prison Ministry, has witnessed the impact of that approach through countless conversations with program participants.
He recalled an individual living in a renovated camper while working to rebuild his life. Despite difficult circumstances, he remained committed to working, saving money, and creating a better future. Reliable transportation allowed him to continue showing up each day, giving him the stability he needed to keep moving forward.
For many participants, receiving the keys to a reliable vehicle represents more than mobility. It represents progress.
